Q. What time is the service on Sunday?

A. Currently, our service is at 9:00 AM.

Q. How do I get to Crosspointe?

A. We are easy to find. If you're coming from west Rio Rancho, take Southern Blvd to Golf Course Road and turn right. Our building is 1/3 of a mile on the right. If you're coming from north Rio Rancho, take Hwy 528 to Southern Blvd; go west to Golf Course Road and turn left. Our building is 1/3 of a mile on the right. If you're coming from Albuquerque, take Hwy 528 into Rio Rancho and turn left on Southern Blvd; go west to Golf Course Road and turn left. Our building is 1/3 of a mile on the right. You can also take Paseo del Norte west to Golf Course Road and go north about 4 miles; our building is on the left, just south of Southern Blvd.

Q. What do I need to wear?

A. Crosspointe is a come-as-you-are church. On any Sunday morning you will find people dressed from casual to dressy. You'll find men in both ties and t-shirts. You'll see women in both dresses and denims. In other words, don't worry about your clothes. You are welcome here and will fit in regardless of your fashion statement!

Q. What about my child/ren?

A. We have classes for children that run simultaneously with the adult worship. These include infants through grade 5. The mid-high and high schoolers meet Sunday evenings at 6:30 PM. All the kids will be ready to go after the adult worship service.

Q. What is the style of worship at Crosspointe?

A. The worship style is moderately contemporary, but the focus of worship is definitely Christ-centered and God-honoring. There is a freedom in worship at Crosspointe, where people feel free to express their love for God in an atmosphere of acceptance and grace.

Q. What kind of church is Crosspointe Church?

A. Crosspointe Church is an independent or non-denominational church. In other words, all the decisions affecting the direction of this church are made by the staff and members of Crosspointe.

Q. How did Crosspointe come into existence?

A. In 1999, two organizations, Christian Church Starters of New Mexico and Church Planting Ventures of Chicago, teamed up to plan for a new church on the west side of Albuquerque. Those two organizations contacted Tom and Nona Lohr to lead the new church—Tom to lead the plant and Nona to do worship and administration. Tom then recruited Tracy and Christy Farthing to come on staff with them in January, 2000. Nona asked Don (Tom’s brother) and Donna Lohr to make the move to Albuquerque to help start the church. They began praying for guidance and then decided to come along. They quit their jobs in West Virginia and found teaching jobs here in Albuquerque. Both Lohr families and the Farthing’s moved here in July, 2000 to begin preparing for the start of Crosspointe. The Church’s grand opening was the first Sunday in November of 2000. Since then, the Farthings have moved on to start another church, and Don & Donna Lohr have returned to West Virginia. Crosspointe will always be grateful to these families.

Crosspointe’s first meeting place was Movies West Theater. Then we moved to Cottonwood’s Starport Theater. Next, we met in a SDA church off of Unser Blvd. (They meet on Saturday, so we met on Sunday.) Now, we finally have a permanent 24/7 location at 1201 Golf Course, about two miles north of the intersection of Ellison Road and Golf Course Road, and 1/3 mile south of Southern Blvd in Rio Rancho. We are now leasing this building and hope to someday expand on the property to either side and then buy.

Q. What is important to Crosspointe Church?

A. At the heart of our mission is the desire to help people find their way back to God. Why “back” to God? Because “God created us in His image, and He saw what He had made and said it was very good.” (Genesis 1:26-31) And because “we were created to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do. “(Ephesians 2:10) So, we need to get back to the people God made us to be. Crosspointe’s desire is to see as many people as possible deeply impacted by the radical truth that God profoundly loves them. We believe that God has really given the church one overriding directive, to help people become genuinely committed followers of Christ. Everything we do is based on this purpose.
