OUR HISTORY & VISION

In 1999, two organizations, Christian Church Starters of New Mexico and Church Planting Ventures of Chicago, teamed up to plan for a new church on the west side of Albuquerque. Those two organizations contacted Tom and Nona Lohr to lead the new church— Tom to lead the plant and Nona to do worship and administration. Tom then recruited Tracy and Christy Farthing to come on staff with them in January, 2000. Nona asked Don (Tom’s brother) and Donna Lohr to make the move to Albuquerque to help start the church. They began praying for guidance and then decided to come along. They quit their jobs in West Virginia and found teaching jobs here in Albuquerque. Both Lohr families and the Farthing’s moved here in July, 2000 to begin preparing for the start of Crosspointe. The Church’s grand opening was the first Sunday in November of 2000. Since then, the Farthings have moved on to start another church, and Don & Donna Lohr have returned to West Virginia. Crosspointe will always be grateful to these families.

Crosspointe first met at Movies West Theater. We then moved to Cottonwood’s Starport Theater. In May 2005, Crosspointe and Rio Rancho Christian Church merged (RRCC had been the first church established in Rio Rancho, back in the early 60s). Keeping the Crosspointe name, we changed our location to an SDA church off of Unser Blvd (they met on Saturdays; we met on Sundays). Now, we finally have a permanent 24/7 location at 1201 Golf Course Road, about two miles north of the intersection of Ellison Road and Golf Course Road, or 1/3 mile south of Southern Blvd in Rio Rancho. We are now leasing this building.
